Cwtch – Welsh word for an affectionate hug. There’s no literal English translation, but its nearest equivalent is “safe place”. Snuggling and cuddling and loving and protecting and safeguarding and claiming, all rolled into one.
– from the Urban Dictionary
I went to university in Wales and, although I learned no useful Welsh, I did really love the idea of a cwtch – a kind of warm, safe nest to snuggle into.
And that’s what Sunday mornings deserve. Whether I’m cuddled up in bed, in someone’s arms, or just ensconced on the sofa in my dressing gown, there’s nothing better than cwtching in comfort.
i want to give you a cwtch, what a soft lovely photo…
Many years ago, I was based at RAF Valley in Wales. A lovely Welsh girl taught me about cwtch. fond memories. Thank you.
