‘I have often said that I wish I had invented blue jeans: the most spectacular, the most practical, the most relaxed and nonchalant. They have expression, modesty, sex appeal, simplicity – all I hope for in my clothes.’
– Yves Saint-Laurent
I don’t wear trousers very often, and when I do they’re always jeans. Tailored trousers make my arse feel flat and leggings make me feel unflatteringly naked.
But denim works. The fabric is sturdy and flexible; it cups my arse and emphasises the curves that I like. When I find jeans that I like, I wear them until they fall apart and mourn them when they’re too broken for decency.
Decency is important because there’s another reason why I like wearing jeans – I don’t wear underwear with jeans. Ever. The seams are just too well placed and I like the rough softness of the denim on my skin.
…which tends to make him smile when he catches me dressing!
