Smutathon 2019

‘The way to get started is to quit talking and begin doing.’
Walt Disney

If you’re been reading my blog for a while, you’ll know that I have taken part in two Smutathon challenges – first in July 2017 and again in August 2018. During these challenges, a group of writers meet up and write and write and write as much as we can possibly write in a 12 hour stretch, all in aid of a charity that is important to us. And it is so much fun!

I am fortunate enough to have made some really wonderful friends within the writing community so Smutathon, like Eroticon, is a great excuse to catch up with some fabulous people. But what I love most about Smutathon is how inspiring it can be to spend time with other great writers and how much it improves my writing to be with them. During the 12 hours of Smutathon, I have written a lot and have written stories and posts that I am really proud of!

I’ve written some of my favourite fiction during Smutathon – a medical kink story about therapeutic relief, a tense scene involving an ever expanding bubblegum bubble, a story inspired by some sexy stockings. I’ve written opinion pieces on virginity, polyamory and risky behaviour, and I’ve reviewed sex toys, such as the Zumio. I’ve written 9 posts over the two Smutathon days and have posted many more photos as rewards for reaching donation thresholds.

This year, Smutathon is moving to Montreal. Hosted and sponsored by Bellesa, the premier destination for all things female sexuality, the Smutathon team will be meeting on September 28th from 9am to 9pm EDT (2pm to 2am BST) to write so much filth and smut and sex that the blogsphere will be on fire! I am SO excited!!

We’ve chosen to support the National Network of Abortion Funds. Working across the USA at national, regional and local levels, they support grassroots organisations to improve access to abortions and help navigate other barriers to accessing abortion services, such as travel, childcare and translation services. They are such an important charity and their support is becoming more and more necessary as reproductive rights are attacked again and again.

This year’s Smutathon is going to be a bit different for me – for the first time, I can’t focus 100% on writing for 12 hours as EA and I have to look after our baby daughter at the same time. I’ve also struggled recently with writing. Pregnancy, motherhood, work and childcare have all got in the way of my focus and I know that I’ve not been writing as much as I have in the past few years.

But I’m hoping that Smutathon is exactly what I need to reinvigorate my writing mojo! I hope that I’ll find my inspiration again during those intense 12 hours. I hope that being surrounded by the energy and enthusiasm of the other writers who I admire so much will focus my thoughts and speed my typing. (I also hope that my baby takes long naps!!)

Because of this, I’m not going to set myself a target this year. I managed to write all six promised posts last year but there are too many factors outside of my control to make that kind of promise this year. But I can promise that we will write as much as we can, and that it’ll be a day to remember!

So please follow @smutathon2019 and subscribe to the official blog at smutathon.com – although I will be posting a round-up here after Smutathon, my posts will be shared on the Smutathon site first with all the other writers and I’d hate for you to miss out!

And if you are following us, why not also retweet this tweet to enter our sex toy competition. All you need to do is follow and retweet and you could win!! (Click the link in the post for full details).

AND, why not donate to this fantastic and worthy charity. It will encourage us to write you more smut and it will support their important work!

Thank you in advance – and see you on the other side!
