‘A friend is someone who knows all about you and still loves you.’
– Elbert Hubbard
This is my fourth Eroticon Virtual Meet and Greet in preparation for my fourth Eroticon. These weekends have consistently been so much fun and so inspiring, and I am sure that this year will be no exception! It will be different this year – bringing along our 3-month old baby will definitely change how we approach the weekend – but I can’t imagine it being anything but incredible!
These virtual meet and greet posts allow us to introduce ourselves to each other before the weekend starts so here goes…
NAME (and Twitter if you have one)
I’m The Other Livvy, a not exactly anonymous version of my real name, Livvy. I’m @theotherlivvy on Twitter.
Tell us 3 things you are most looking forward to at Eroticon 2019
The people really are the highlight of Eroticon. I have made so many friends in the blogging community and it means that Eroticon is a ridiculously happy weekend when we can all catch up and meet again in real life. This year, we will also be introducing our baby daughter, Martha, to everyone and I can’t wait for them to meet her!
The schedule is always incredible, but there are so many sessions that I am particularly excited about – Eleanor Janega’s talk ‘Insatiable: a history of women and desire’ sits right at the intersection of my sex and history geekery; I won’t be able to miss the talk on sex positive parenting, although it clashes with other fantastic topics; and Exposing 40’s talk on nude photography is also exciting enough to ensure I make it in for that first Sunday session!!
I’m also looking forward to the inspiration that fills me during the weekend and powers my writing for months afterwards. It is not only the conversations and talks that inspire me, but the people and experiences too. It’s such a fantastic, empowering and intoxicating mix that I leave wanting to change the world!
We are creating a play list of songs for the Friday Night Meet and Greet. Nominate one song that you would like us to add to the play list and tell us why you picked that song.
I have restarted running in the past few weeks and am listening again to old playlists that I made years ago, rediscovering songs that I had forgotten were perfect for running and dancing and singing. One that has never really dropped out of my regular rotation but I’m still not bored with is ‘I’m Not Gonna Teach Your Boyfriend How to Dance with You’ by The Black Kids.
I have been dancing to it since 2008 when the line ‘you are the girl that I’ve been dreaming of ever since I was a little girl’ seemed revolutionary and exciting, and I wouldn’t want to miss a chance to dance to it again!
What is your favourite item or book you’ve purchased so far this year?
Not a book as I’ve not been reading much, but I have bought a reading light that I’m hoping will encourage me to read again! I’m up a lot in the night at the moment, feeding the baby and waiting for her to sleep, so I’m hoping that this light will mean I can read during this time without disturbing anyone.
You can have an unlimited supply of one thing for the rest of your life, what is it? Sushi? Scotch Tape?
Part of me thinks I should suggest Choco Liebniz biscuits as I’ve not been able to stop eating them in the past few months, but I think that would be a waste of a miraculous opportunity!
Instead, I’d like an unlimited amount of time – time to watch all the movies and TV shows I want to watch, time to write all that I want to write, time to read everything and learn about everything. Time for long, lazy fucks and agonising edging marathons. And, wow, time to sleep. Unlimited time to sleep would be wonderful…
What is your favourite quote from a movie?
‘Welcome to the Rock!’
What is your word suggestion to next year’s Eroticon anthology?
Conflict
