‘…so i will greet you
in a way
all loved things
are meant to be greeted
with a tear in my heart
and a poem in my eye.’
– Sanober Khan, Turquoise Silence
Yay, it’s Eroticon time of year again!! This really is the highlight of my blogging year and I am so excited that is getting so close.
Eroticon is a sex blogging, erotica and sex writing conference that brings together so many of the writers that I admire, so many of the activists that inspire me, and so many people who work in the sex toy industry that I love. It’s a magical weekend and I wish it could last forever! It is also a great excuse to catch up with friends, including some that I only really see at Eroticon. Even more than that, I have met new people at each conference that have made my life and my writing better, and I can’t wait to see who or what will change my life this year. Honestly, if you’ve ever thought of attending, you must!
Eroticon is also wonderful because it is one of a few spaces where I can be myself; where no part of me is hidden or secretive. Being The Other Livvy, sex blogger and kinkster, full time for a few days is more refreshing than I thought it could be. Real life with its drags and problems can melt away for a short while, and I love it!
The online Meet and Greet posts have started appearing all over Twitter and click here to read everyone else’s posts.
And here are my answers to the Meet and Greet questions to introduce myself to you all before meeting you in March. I’ll likely be wearing a dress with pockets and I’m really looking forward to meeting you all!
NAME (and Twitter if you have one)
I am Livvy and I’m on Twitter @theotherlivvy.
What are you most looking forward to about Eroticon 2018?
As my introduction suggests, the people make Eroticon what it is and I can’t want to see everyone! Otherwise, I’m looking forward to hearing Remittance Girl speak as I’ve heard such wonderful things about her lectures in previous years and I think Hannah Witton is brilliant so I can’t wait to see her talk. But the schedule looks fab and I know picking which sessions to attend is going to be very difficult all weekend!
We are creating a play list of songs for the Friday Night Meet and Greet. Nominate one song that you would like us to add to the play list and tell us why you picked that song
Blue Swede, Hooked on a Feeling – because it’s brilliant and makes me want to dance!
What’s the first career you dreamed of having as a kid?
As a child, I cycled through every career you can imagine! I wanted to be a nurse, a vet, a shepherd, a chef, an artist, a dragon handler… Most ambitiously, I once told my mother that I wanted to be an old lady! Both wonderfully and boringly, the earliest that stuck around was medicine. My grandfather was a surgeon and used to spend hours showing me x-rays or pieces of bone or telling me medical problems. I could never really have been anything but a doctor!
Weirdest place you’ve ever gotten up to mischief (define ‘mischief’ however you like…)
I think a car park in Croydon has that title! Walking back from an erotic reading slam, we spotted a hidden, brutalist corner that provided an opportunity that couldn’t be missed!
Tell us two truths and a lie about yourself
I once punched a teacher in the face.
My favourite karaoke song is Wuthering Heights
My father was once a certified knight of cheese
Complete the sentence: I want..
…to be like you (oo oo!)
See you in March!!
