Eroticon 2017: Meet and Greet!

‘Once again…welcome to my house. Come freely. Go safely; and leave something of the happiness you bring.’
Bram Stoker, Dracula

Oh. My. Gosh. It’s Eroticon time again!! The amazing sex blogger conference has moved to London this year and I am super excited about it! I had been concerned last year that it could never live up to my expectations but the conference was just so fantastic and I had such a brilliant time. I can’t wait to fall headlong into the blogging community again this year!

Part of the conference build up includes posting an online introduction to yourself so that the other bloggers attending can learn a bit about each delegate before we all arrive. So here it is! The other virtual introductions can be found here.

NAME (and Twitter if you have one)

I am Livvy and my Twitter handle is @theotherlivvy

What are you hoping to get out of Eroticon 2017?

I have two main aims for Eroticon this year. The first is less about the conference itself and more about the people. I had such a wonderful time last year, meeting bloggers and writers, and finally putting faces to names that I have admired all year, and I’m even more excited about the chance to do that again!

The second and more important aim is that I’m hoping Eroticon will inspire me to write more again. In the past few weeks and maybe even months, I have had neither the time nor inclination to write. I realised today to my horror that I have actually only published one written post on this blog this year! I miss it and I’m hoping that the wonderfully inspiring writers who are speaking at the conference will be the kickstart that I need to get going again.

This year’s schedule at Eroticon is pretty full on but which 4 sessions do you already have marked down as ones you want to attend?

I am almost certain that I will change my mind on the day, but the four I am most looking forward to are…

Malin James – Keep it tight, Sex in Flash Fiction: I love, love Malin’s fiction but I also love the way she writes about writing. I can’t wait to hear her insights on writing flash fiction and learn how to better my own attempts.

Ashley Lister – Plotting the Erotic Story: Missing Ashley’s session last year was the only thing I regretted from Eroticon 2016 so I’m definitely going this year! I also hope that his guidance on planning and structuring my stories will be very useful.

Kate Lister – A History of Erotic Writing and Obscenity in Britain: Kate Lister’s ‘Whores of Yore’ Twitter feed is absolutely fantastic and I’m really excited to have the chance to learn more about the history of erotica.

Stimulating the visual imagination – Erotic Life Drawing and writing with John Benge and Tabitha Rayne: This was one of my favourite sessions last year, inspiring a story, and I can’t wait to see what Tabitha and John have planned for this year!

Tell us one thing about yourself that not many people know?

I found this astoundingly difficult to answer and ended up really over-thinking it. (I have literally been staring at the blank question for about five days!) Almost everything that not many people know is hugely mundane and the interesting stuff risks defeating my fragile hold on anonymity, so I’m afraid you’re stuck with the somewhat ridiculous!

I get nervous if there’s less than half a packet of cheddar in the fridge in case it runs out entirely before a new packet is bought. I live in fear of a cheese famine…

If you made the papers, what would the headline be?

‘Junior doctor’s scandalous secret on-line sex life revealed!’

If you could have one skill for free (i.e. without practice/time/effort) what would it be?

Oh gosh, there’s so much choice! On balance, I think I’d want a photographic memory – I read so much and learn so many interesting facts that I would love to be able to easily recall them when needed. I’d also love to easily remember the exact words of poems and the beautiful phrases used in stories.

Complete the sentence: I love it when…

…I learn something new that completely changes my perception or understanding of something, no matter how trivial.

See you there!

  1. ” I live in fear of a cheese famine…” I feel your pain so hard on this one!

Looking forward to catching up. I seem to remember we got quite stuck into medical stories over wine last year, which was exceptionally fun =) x
