Sinful Sunday: Waiting…

‘For a while’ is a phrase whose length can’t be measured. At least by the person who’s waiting.

– Haruki Murakami, South of the Border, West of the Sun

He tells me he won’t be long. He tells me to wait a while.

So I wait.

At first, it’s easy. Then a tingling of anticipation starts to build as I imagine everything we could do when he gets back. The potential is exhilarating, and before I know it, my body is taut and expectant.

As I continue to eagerly wait, my need for him grows with each passing second. Every sound sets my heart racing and I turn towards it, hoping that my wait is now over. I start to struggle to be patient.

In the end, ‘a while’ is always too long…

  1. Ha! I have had a draft post in my WordPress for a couple of months now and it’s called Waiting!! It’s of my legs and the words speak of being frustrated lying awake in a hotel waiting for a lover to wake up. How strange!!! I have always hesitated to publish it because F Dot already used the photo to illustrate a piece of her writing and I’ve thought I should use new photos. Weird eh?!

This is a beautiful photograph, the light is glorious and you look stunning. And your bed and linen are luxuriously gorgeous. xx

  2. I’m always being told to ‘wait and don’t move’ I don’t think there is a single time I’ve managed it! Your image conveys the anticipation so well.

  3. This is just gorgeous! The rumpled bed, the way you look like you’re almost rising up out of the sheets (like Botticelli’s Venus, if I’m being fanciful) there’s a tension there, an anticipation. It’s really lovely.
