Sinful Sunday: Taste…

‘Hunger of the body is altogether different from the shallow, daily hunger of the belly.’ – Barbara Kingsolver, The Poisonwood Bible

When I was on holiday last week, I went wine tasting in Sonoma, near the Napa Valley. Our guide was teaching us about taste and how, since taste and aroma are so complex, describing it presents a similar challenge as trying to describe a work of art. When done well, however, whether using poetic or cut-and-dry descriptive terms, tasting notes should allow you to recall the experience in vivid detail.

Knowing the photo I was intending on using this week, I must admit that my thoughts took a bit of a tangent at this point as he continued to talk about describing Taste…

Think about how it feels in your mouth, he explained. Savour the whole experience, the richness of the body and the feeling across your tongue. Then pause…and wait for the finish. This is the defining moment and always worth waiting for.

(I know that this is a bit late for March’s Senses prompt but it almost works for April’s Soft Focus…)

  1. Savouring a talented tongue is indeed a delight that has the habit of creeping back into one’s mind!! Another gorgeous picture from you this week. Xx

  2. What a sexy photo … and the words accompanying it are sinfully delicious! I must admit, I’ve only dabbled in same-gender play & have yet to go down on a woman. This photo and description make me want to try it.

  3. I’d say that you’d ruined wine tasting for me forever, if I hadn’t already had similar thoughts. The image is beautiful and erotic, and the words that accompany it are tantalizing. We’re in Sonoma for wine tasting on fairly regular occasion; this post will definitely be on our mind during our next visit.
